Your Next Step

This four week group experience is for both the curious and the committed. We want to make sure every person knows how to build a life on a “Hope that will not disappoint”. Foundations of Hope will give you a next steps opportunity to meet other folks in our church community, get some basics skills about growing in your faith, learn about the strategy and structure of Hope Chapel, and discover how you can get plugged in the ministries of Hope Chapel. This is a great place to start connecting and feeling like a part of Hope Chapel.

Week 1: REACH

THIS CLASS WILL BE AN INTRODUCTION TO CHRISTIANITY. WE BELIEVE JESUS IS THE HOPE FOR EVERY PERSON IN OUR COMMUNITY. WE’LL COVER TOPICS LIKE GOD, THE BIBLE, AND SALVATION.

We REACH because you matter to God.

"The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

God's Plan - Live with Humanity Forever

Our Problem - Sin Separates that Relationship

God's Promise - Sin Can Be Forgiven

God's Proposal/Our Profession - Forgiveness is a Gift/Must Be Accepted

SHARING YOUR FAITH STORY

“Witnessing” or evangelizing can sound intimidating. There are many books that help guide people through some hard questions about God and Christianity. But the simplest thing you can do is to tell your personal story.

1. ACCEPT THE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

We all know someone in our sphere of influence who does not have a relationship with Jesus. God calls you to be the salt of the earth and the light to the world you live.

2. BUILD A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP

We are wired for relationships. We are not meant to do this life alone. Most people are open to having a conversation about common likes or hobbies. Invest in them before you invite them to Jesus.

3. SHARE YOUR PERSONAL STORY

Allow God to use your own story to inspire others to contemplate life change. Talk about your life before Christ and now your life with Christ.

4. GIVE A PERSONAL INVITATION

Ask them about their beliefs. Don’t ask looking for an immediate response. Give them a question to think about or hand them an invite card to a church service. Most people are very willing to attend a church service when personally invited.

5. PRAY AND LET GOD WORK

Salvation is a work of God. You’ve done your part. Let God work His.

Week 2: CONNECT

THIS CLASS WILL BE A BASIC INTRODUCTION TO THE HISTORY, STRUCTURE, AND STRATEGY OF HOPE CHAPEL. WE’LL TALK MORE ABOUT HOW TO PLUG-IN TO MINISTRIES, MISSIONS, AND GROUP LIFE IN WEEK 4.

Connecting is more than attending.

“We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers…” 1Thessalonians 4:13

Young or seasoned in the faith, come just as you are.

Authentic faith transforms everyday life.

We need each other on this spiritual journey.

Faith is a team sport.

Ways to Stay Connected

Week 3: GROW

THIS CLASS WILL HELP GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE ESSENTIAL MOVEMENTS THAT EVERY BELIEVER NEEDS TO TAKE TO BECOME A FULLY-DEVOTED FOLLOWER OF CHRIST. WE’LL COVER TOPICS LIKE BAPTISM, BIBLE STUDY, AND PRAYER.

Growing closer to God leads to a joyful life.

"I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance" - John 10:10

You need to know how much God can matter to you.

God and His Word have significant value to your everyday life.

You can experience His best for navigating life's challenges.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is being immersed into water after personally accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It demonstrates obedience to Christ's command and is a person's public declaration of one's death to sin and resurrection to new life through Jesus Christ.

"that they may see your good deeds and glorify God when he appears." - 1 Peter 2:12

Serving is a normal routine like prayer and bible study.

Every believer is called to serve out of their giftedness.

Serving ministers relief in various ways.

What is Serving?

Serving is not just doing something with your hands, it could be doing something with your speech, your resources, your finances, and your home. It can be done corporately as well as personally. It is done with the heart, a heart of worship. No matter how you serve, here are some Biblical principles on how to serve.

A Blessing

2 Corin. 9:6, 8-11 "you will be enriched in every way for all generosity"

An Act of Worship

2 Corin. 9:12 "not only supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God."

Done Cheerfully

2 Corin. 9:7 "God loves a cheerful giver."

Proportional

1 Corin. 16:2 "in keeping with how he prospers."

Sacrificial

Luke 21:2-4 "this poor widow has put in more than all of them...these out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty."

Not Done Foolishly

2 Corin. 8:12-13 "not that there may be relief for others and hardship for you."

Consistent

1 Corin. 16:2 "on the first day of the week, each of you is to set something aside."

Between you and God

Matthew 6:2-4 "so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
