Hannah’s Word

Hey! This is Hannah, one of Pastor Ken`s youth interns for the summer! You might have seen me and the other intern, Chloe, around the church for the past month or so. I am from Pensacola, Florida and staying here for the summer to assist Pastor Ken with the many, many events that Alpha and Omega have over the summer. Between camps, mission trips, “Funday Mondays”, and super youth group, having interns to help out is very important.

I was very involved with the youth ministry at my home church in Milton, FL throughout middle school and high school, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be involved with student ministry again! I am particularly looking forward to attending Fuge camp with the Alpha and Omega students. Fuge has had a large impact on my life. I was saved at a Fuge camp in the sixth grade and continued to grow in my faith in student ministry through camps, retreats, and every day fellowship with other students. I served in student ministry at my home church as a family group leader and led worship in the youth band each Wednesday.

The summer after my senior year, we attended a Fuge camp located in Charleston, South Carolina and it just so happened that Hope Chapel`s youth group was also attending that same camp on the same week. My youth pastor, Peter Burmister, spoke with Ken Hall at one of the leader meetings at the camp and Ken shared with him that he has an intern each summer for his youth ministry. Knowing that this is something I would be interested in, Peter mentioned my name to Ken. The week after camp, Ken and his family traveled to Pensacola, FL for Ken`s sabbatical. While he was in Pensacola, my family had dinner with his family and we discussed details about the internship. It quickly became clear to me that this was something that God was calling me to do.

Every step of the process of getting in touch with Ken and ultimately deciding to participate in the internship was intentionally orchestrated by God. I have always had a passion for missions and have been blessed with the opportunity to visit Haiti twice on mission. This internship gives me the opportunity to visit South Africa on mission with a group from Hope Chapel at the end of the summer, which I am really looking forward to.  I have enjoyed working with Hope Chapel and their youth ministry so far and look forward to the rest of the summer! Thank you for letting me be a part of your ministry!
