Pastor’s Word

For some, the end of 2017 cannot come fast enough.  I am one of them, but not for the reasons you might think.  December 31st, the last day of the year, is a Sundayand we sense it is a fantastic time for a special service.  So, our “Finish Well/Start Strong” service, which will be at 10:30 AM, is taking already great shape.  The thing is, though, we need you to make it extra special.  For instance…
– Have you ever gone public with your faith in Christ and been baptized?  We think a great way to finish 2017 and start 2018 is to finally be obedient and go public about Jesus by being baptized. You will definitely encourage lots of others by doing so.  If you are interested, just let any of the staff know or reply to this email.
– We know kids are a blessing.  We already have at least one family that wants to finish off 2017 and launch 2018 by dedicating their child and themselves to God.  Do you have a younger child or infant that you would like to ask God to bless by dedicating them to Him?  This transitional service day is a great opportunity to do so. Again, just let one of us know.
– Only 24 hours separates 12/31 from 1/1, but psychology it strikes us as a time for new beginnings.  We think it does so spiritually as well.  Why not use the “season of expectation” (Advent) as a time to discern any new spiritual commitments that will improve your relationship with God and then come prepared to make those commitment to God on 12/31…the eve of a new year to walk with God.  The service will feature a time for each of us to symbolically make that commitment to God. Should be inspiring. Could be life-changing.
So, plan now to make 12/31 a day to remember, a day to finish well 2017 and begin 2018 with a renewed sense of faith and commitment.  I can’t wait.

Blessings,

Neal
